The Audience

Educated audiences would be more likely to come to the exhibitions, because they like exhibitions in general. Also, more intellectual people that are interested in art. Visitors, especially those who don't have a lot of time, tend to avoid exhibitions based on generalized perceptions. They expect it to be in a technologically advanced place.They expect it to be of a high standard and to be well presented and hung. I think they would have expected window mounting instead of foam board as it is more traditional. The type of experience that a visitor reports depends on the individual.  But I'd hope that they'd be impressed byt the work and the exhibition overall. I hope it would be a good experiance and encorage people to go to more exhibitions. The whole exhibition is trying to show how technology is all around us. My piece is showing how people are connected to technology and how they can be hooked and dependant on technology.

Changing the Final Photo

Before I printed the image, I printed the photo on a 7x5 to see how the photo would come out. The pixelation didn't look as good as I thought it would and I thought it would be a good i'd to change it. After talking with the tutors, I thought it would be a good idea to see what the photo would look like with just noise and a good quality. I took the original and added 60% noise. This took away from some of the quality, so I increase the vibrance by 100%. This also made the Noise stand out more.

Making a layout

Depending on the amount of photos you have, you need different layouts.
For using just one photo, it is best to centre it.

To make the layout, open a new canvas (if you are making this from the canvas, make the new canvas 700mm x700mm)
Drag the photo across to the new canvas.
View > Show > Grid. Make sure it is on Snap to Grid.
Make the photo even on both sides and take the grid off.

Sizing the image for print

- Go to New > International Paper > A2 (594mm x 420mm).

- Go to the photo.
- Click on Image > Image size.
- Click off Resample image. Make the image the same width as the measurement from the canvas (594mm)
- Check the image resolution. Click Resample Image. If the number is a decimal, round it to the nearest whole number (going down).

- Go back to the canvas.
- Go to Image > Image size. Change the resolution so it is the same resolution as the photo.

- Drag the photo to the canvas. You may need to drag the image to the edge if it doesn't fill the canvas.

If you want a border:
View > Show > Grid
View > Snap to > Grid
Edit > Transform > Scale
Shrink the photo down so it has an even border.

Experiment with noise

The noise has been changed by 5% each time, from 5% - 30 %
I think between under 15% is the right amount of noise, as past that the image gets impared.

Final Image

I think this is one of the better photos, as the compasition adds emphasis to it, and how she's is stood facing away from the camera suggests she is 'faceless' and that she has no identity. Also, the way she is stood and the tonal range as it goes into shadow. The way it is pixalated almost looks like the wires are going into her spine. I also think adding noise was interesting, because on first impressions the photo looks bad quality, but after looking at it, you can tell it's intentional.

I got positive feedback from the initial ideas and photos and the feedback I got helped me decide between putting the image in black and white or adding noise.

I wanted to show a link between people and technology with covering a person in wires, and how people are dependent on technology. I didn't show the face, as then it could represent any generic person.

I think this is a strong image, so i would use this on A2 on it's own. The photo is 30 p/i since it's going to be blown up large. The noise is Uniform 10%.

Final Selections

- Change Image size to 20 p/i
- Add Noise (Uniform 7%)
